I am a highly accomplished After-Dinner and Burns Supper Speaker with over 25 years’ experience delivering humorous talks to a wide variety of audiences both in the United Kingdom and abroad.
My background as a Senior Police Officer with Strathclyde Police led me to venture into the world of After Dinner Speaking at various social events around 1990 and since then I have travelled the length of the country speaking at Golf Clubs and other prestigious venues whether speaking on the humorous aspects of Burns Suppers in memory of Scotland’s National Bard, Robert Burns, or just life in general.
At one point in my career I was Head of Media for the Strathclyde Police, the largest Force in Scotland at the time, where I was the Official Police Spokesperson for local and National Media. That wasn’t interference on your TV screens it was me! In that role I lectured at the Scottish Police College on Police/Media relations to all levels of police officers, including how to get the message across in a way people would understand. I always endeavoured to include some humour in my lectures which probably explained why they always asked me back.
There is nothing worse as an organiser booking a Speaker who doesn’t hit the mark, for that reason I am a little obsessive about researching every audience whether it be all male or male and female, to ensure the level of humour is appropriate for the occasion. Numerous testimonies bear witness to this.
Apart from Speaking at Dinners I have Chaired all sorts of events from Sportsman’s Dinners, Charity Events and have even delivered humorous talks at Weddings when I wasn’t the Best Man or a member of the Bridal Party.
Although almost all my ‘gigs’ have been through word of mouth I have caved in to the pressure of friends and family and decided to get my website up and running.
